Your Call Is Important to Us
Have you noticed that, when you hear this from a voice mail system, you could pretty much always add, "so important to us that we're not going to answer it for the next 15 minutes or so"?
We will limit this blog to comments on philosophy, religion, theology, economics, sociology, history, physics, mathematics, politics, current events, computers, sports, art, culture, programming languages, nightlife, travel, artificial intelligence, ethics, food, and secret sex tips gleaned from years spent with various Himalayan masters. So don't expect it to cover everything.

That's a great observation, Gene. Also, what about: "Your call will be answered in the order it was received." Huh? How can a single call be received or answered in a particular order?
But some companies get it right: "Calls are answered in the order they are received."
