MMORPGs and Free Banking

There is a very interesting discussion going on over at the Mises blog. I would very much appreciate it if anyone with experience in both (a) online role-playing games and (b) Hayek's proposal for privately issued fiat currency would let me know if this would constitute a good experiment. Of course, I don't know that I could muster the courage to ask for a grant or sabbatical to play online games...

A person should actually have a position prior to requesting a sabbatical.

But, with that said, there are people who earn a living by developing and testing online games. They pay real money, ie, public fiat currency. Give it some thought?

I love the person who in post A says, "These games are about murder, so there is no market involved," and then, when someone corrects him and says they are about hunting, says, "Well, I don't know anything about them."

That's a good reason to shut up, isn't it?

Well, I see your point, but if we followed that policy, Crash Landing would go bust.
